About Our Business
Chef Hans Achim moved to Florida in 2007 working hard to learn the language as he worked for several other restaurants and eateries. In 2012 he opened the Bavarian Haus Restaurant in Mount Dora Fl., and with its success Chef Hans has brought his love for German food and Florida salt air to the Fort Myers area. “We refuse to compromise on quality in our restaurant, and look forward to serving you.”
We pound every schnitzel by hand when it is ordered, and make everything from scratch down to the apple strudels. We hope everyone will come enjoy the little taste of Germany with us.

We enjoyed our lunch very much. The dining room is bright and clean. Owner-chef Hans served us beautifully. My husband had the lager and I had the hefeweizen, both on tap and cold. The jägerschnitzel was freshly prepared and crispy, with delicious mushroomy jäger sauce. I ordered the sauce on the side because I knew that half my lunch would go home with me for another tasty meal. The red cabbage and potato dumpling were excellent sides.

Everything about HJ German Corner is authentic, sweet, down to earth, and delicious. The interior is completely handmade by Hans the owner and each schnitzel really is pounded by hand. What may seem like an inconspicuous little restaurant on the side of the road on your travels through Florida or while in Ft. Meyers may actually turn into a spot that you’ll make sure to tell you friends about and need to go to every time you pass through town. Indeed, it would be remiss to not stop and dine at HJ’s.

Most authentic German food outside of Germany! Started with Goulaschsuppe (homemade goulasch soup) and it was just as delicious as my grandmother would make it. My main was the Jägerschnitzel (breaded pork schnitzel) and again just to die for. Of course, my meal was paired with a German Pilsner (yum). I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now and I'm so happy I was finally able to try it. Excited for my next time back eating so amazing food!

H.J. German Corner is a probably the most authentic German food I’ve had in Fort Myers! Chef Hans is a real one man show, he takes your order, he cooks your food and he serves you your food. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere is quaint. The restaurant is small (about seven tables) and reservations are a must!
